Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology held a cultural exchange activity on April 16 and 17 to enhance international students' understanding of traditional Chinese culture and art.

Students got to learn traditional Chinese crafts like Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, bamboo carving, and Nanjing Yunjin brocade.

Nanjing Yunjin brocade is a traditional weaving technique that originated from the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420). Representing the highest level of ancient Chinese brocade skills, the craftsmanship was used to make royal garments like the dragon robe and crown costume. It was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

"China boasts a profound traditional culture and I will play my part in promoting Chinese culture when I return to my home country in May," said a student from South Africa.

Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology has been active on international exchange and cooperation in recent years. The school started enrolling international students in 2015 and has attracted more than 500 students from 45 countries.
