The English classes delivered by foreign teachers at Kaopeng Primary School in Nanjing, Jiangsu province won acclaim from educational officials, local media outlets reported.
Every one's attention was attracted by the lively classroom atmosphere and frequent student-teacher interactions.
Lu Puxin, an official at the local education bureau, said that the class was part of Nanjing's proposal in 2014 to recruit more foreign teachers in primary and middle schools to offer students more language exchange opportunities with foreigners.
"Classes delivered by foreign teachers have been proven to help improve students' interest and confidence in learning a foreign language, enhance their abilities in oral expression, as well as expand their global horizons," Lu said.
"Foreign teachers can also get a better understanding of Chinese culture and Nanjing's local conditions. They can also help promote Chinese stories to the world."
Lu added that foreign teachers are also required to learn Chinese laws and regulations, fundamental policies, as well as current events at least every six months.
