The Campus Day event of the Jiangsu Education System Network Security Publicity Week kicked off at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics on Oct 12.
The event attracted officials from the Cyberspace Administration of Jiangsu and the provincial department of education. The event was also live broadcasted online and viewed 240,000 times.
Hong Liu, a first-class inspector of the provincial department of education, noted that the education sector is facing serious challenges in data security. Therefore, it is urgent that a protection system for data security in the education sector is established, which requires not only the government to take actions, but also teachers and students increase their awareness of cybersecurity.
Teachers and students should participate in the cybersecurity promotion event actively, as well as follow cybersecurity laws and regulations, Hong said.
Schools in the cities across the province should also take actions to protect the security of students' and teachers' personal information, as well as carry out training to cultivate talents in cybersecurity.
Participants watched a show about cybersecurity on campus, listened to lectures themed on cyber fraud prevention and data security for university students, as well as learned information and skills related to cybersecurity.
