A peace education activity which is part of the 2021 Nanjing Peace Forum took place in Nanjing Ninghai High School on Oct 26.
The forum, organized by UNESCO, the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the Information Office of Jiangsu provincial government and Nanjing municipal government, is the first international event initiated by China and is focused on peace and sustainable development.
Huang Wei, a youth representative who actively takes part in international peace promotion activities, delivered a speech on the topic of "Peace action: our humanitarian assistance in the Middle East". Huang shared his experience of international volunteer services during the speech.
"Today I bring over 10 paintings drawn by refugee children from Syrian. The drawings express the kids' vision for peace though without skillful composition. I hope that they can inspire Chinese students to think about peace," said Huang.
Zhai Yunpeng, a student of Ninghai High School and also a youth representative of 2021 Nanjing Peace Forum, also gave a speech at the forum. He mentioned that his school has collaborated with UNESCO Chair on Peace Studies to open a course on international understanding and peace which has taught him much about conflict resolution and cultural diversity.
