The College of International Education of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Nanjing Yat-sen Primary School launched the first demonstration base for education on international understanding in Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province on Dec 29.

Education on international understanding is an emerging trend which aims to prepare students for international exchanges by teaching them knowledge about the geography, economy, culture and politics in other countries.

According to a director at the College of International Education of NUAA, the college will cooperate with the primary school to forge greater international understanding in children and help them cultivate a global vision.

The principal of Nanjing Yat-sen Primary School Wu Zhuo said the school will make full use of the educational resources provided by the college and explore ways of implementing education for international understanding.

According to the education bureau of Nanjing, 30 to 50 more of such demonstration bases will be established in the city's primary schools. "International education in primary schools is necessary," said an official at the bureau. "It helps broaden students' horizons and contributes to Nanjing's efforts in building an international city."
