Wuxi children's home opens new special school

The children's home of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province recently opened the Wuxi Sunshine Special School to provide children in the care home or the city with primary and middle school education, local media outlets reported on Jan 18.

With an area of 3,000 square meters, the special school has 18 classrooms and a number of other rooms such as computer classrooms and dancing classrooms.

The school is located at the new site of the children's home. Spanning an area of more than 33,333 square meters and with nearly 400 million yuan ($63.01 million) in investment, the new care home will house 450 beds and is expected to open in the first half of 2022.

In addition, a 2,000-sq-m rehabilitation center in the new children's home will provide preschool education for children with disabilities younger than 6 years old and vocational training for people with disabilities that are 16 or older.
