Wuxi and Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province recently released their plans for the development of the education sector from 2021-25, local media outlets reported.

According to the plan, 70 percent of students in Wuxi will receive higher education and more than 99.5 percent will be entitled to senior high school or equivalent education by 2025.

The education gap between different areas and schools in Wuxi will be further narrowed. Underprivileged groups in the city, such as children of migrant workers and students with financial difficulties or disabilities, will have equal access to education.

Taizhou's plan states 26 major tasks involving cultivating virtuous and competent students, improving all kinds of education, training professional teachers, smart education, and educational reforms. Nine projects aimed at improving students' general qualities and providing more educational resources will also be implemented from 2021-25.

By the end of 2025, 100 percent of students in Taizhou should have access to compulsory education and senior high school or equivalent education. Over 65 percent of students should enter higher education institutions. In addition, the city will increase spending on education every year during this period.
