Many Chinese and foreign college students in East China's Jiangsu province stayed on campus to spend the Spring Festival holiday which took place from Jan 31 to Feb 6.

At Nanjing Forestry University in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu, 142 postgraduates and foreign students and more than 70 staff members celebrated the Chinese New Year on campus. The university prepared set meals that included meat dishes, vegetables, desserts, fruits, and yogurt for them.

Students and staff members also got to experience traditional activities such as making dumplings, writing the Chinese character "福" (fu, meaning fortune and luck) with calligraphy brushes, and making lanterns, said a Cameroon student at the university.

Students who stayed put at other universities like Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Jiangsu University also enjoyed a happy Chinese New Year on campus as they got to make dumplings and received gifts.
