The Department of Human Resources and Social Security of East China's Jiangsu province recently rated the Nantong Industry and Trade Technician College and the Zhenjiang Technician Institute as provincial key technical colleges.

The title, which is considered the highest honor for Jiangsu's technical institutes, has been given to 13 schools to date.

The Nantong Industry and Trade Technician College has been making efforts to develop five academic disciplines – advanced manufacturing, intelligent control, architectural engineering, automotive engineering, and modern services – that are also major industries in the city. Over the past three years, the school has offered vocational training to 24,600 people.

The Zhenjiang Technician Institute has worked with Huawei, China Animation Comic Game Group, and Glodon Technology Co to establish an alliance to educate professionals with digital skills. It has provided career training to 32,000 people.

To date, the number of fulltime students and career training courses at Jiangsu's provincial key technical colleges accounts for more than 31.2 percent and 34.9 percent of the total from the province's technical institutes respectively.
