International students at the Jiangsu University of Technology in Changzhou, East China's Jiangsu province have volunteered to join efforts to combat the city's latest COVID-19 outbreak.
A number of them were recently seen maintaining order, reminding fellow students to wear masks and practice social distancing at the university's nucleic acid testing site.
Among these foreign volunteers was a Ugandan student who has the Chinese name Wu Tao. "I am a foreigner but not an outsider. I also want to be a volunteer," he said.
Another two foreign volunteers, Yang Yinyue from Uzbekistan and An Jingfeng from Yemen, said that they decided to help as they felt compelled to contribute to China, which they view as their "home away from home".
All schools in Changzhou have suspended classes on campus due to the pandemic.
