Nanjing to strengthen efforts to improve education
Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province, will continue its efforts to improve education in 2022, according to its government work report recently released at the fifth session of the 16th Nanjing Municipal People's Congress.
According to the report, the city will build and revamp 25 kindergartens, a move that will increase the admission quota by 8,000. The Affiliated Middle School of Nanjing Normal University and Zhonghua High School will also each open a new campus.
Nanjing will mandate that local primary and middle schools provide students with lunch that meets stipulated standards. According to a guideline, lunch should contain five kinds of food including cereals, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs and milk.
The government work report also includes efforts to further ease academic pressure on students, improve the private education system, and help develop local universities into top-class institutes.
