New Chinese medicine university to open in Suzhou

The University of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences will be located in Linhu town, Wuzhong district in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, local media outlets reported on April 19.
The university spans an area of 406,677 square meters and will enroll a total of 5,000 students, including 500 from foreign countries. The proportion of undergraduates, graduate students and doctoral students will be 20 percent, 50 percent and 30 percent respectively.
The university will make full use of resources from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, develop education systems, focus on Chinese medical sciences and promote the combination of different academic disciplines.
Huang Luqi, head of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said the university is expected to help develop Suzhou into an important hub for the reform and development of Chinese medicine in the Yangtze River Delta region and throughout China.
