More than 180 Chinese youths in Sweden participated in an online camp organized by the Nanjing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Nanjing Jinling Primary School to learn about traditional Chinese culture.
The camp, which concluded on May 5, featured classes about Journey to the West, one of the Four Classic Chinese Novels, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) city walls in Nanjing, and traditional Chinese clothing.
During the class on ancient city walls, Chang Huiwen, a teacher at the Jinling Primary School, showed texts, pictures and videos about the bricks, gates, drainage system and other devices related to the walls.
During the class on traditional costumes, students learned about the clothing that people wore during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and tried their hands at sketching costumes.
The classes are expected to inspire overseas Chinese youths to promote cultural exchange between China and other countries as well as improve the international influence of Nanjing culture.
