East China's Jiangsu province has taken a variety of measures to ensure that students graduating in 2022 will be able to secure employment.

A record high number of more than 660,000 students in Jiangsu's colleges will be graduating this June and July. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in several places, many job fairs have been cancelled, resulting in challenges to job recruitment.

In light of this, Jiangsu authorities have tasked departments responsible for human resources and education to promote policies, information and services related to employment on campuses.

The Jiangsu branch of China International Intellectech Co, a central State-owned enterprise, had organized 25 online and two physical job fairs over the first four months of 2022, according to Feng Ya, assistant general manager of the company. Feng added that 134 companies offered 993 jobs to the more than 3,000 students who participated in the events.

An online job fair for college graduates who are seeking employment in sectors related to the digital economy, such as information transmission and software, will be held from June 1 to 30. About 5,000 employers will offer more than 100,000 jobs during the fair.

According to Zhang Jing, deputy director of the Jiangsu Human Resources market, digital economy-related sectors have contributed to nearly one third of the jobs in the market.

In addition, job fairs focusing on the integrated circuit, automobile and postal service industries will be held by education authorities.

The Jiangsu government has also introduced favorable policies and implemented programs to bolster the development of companies in the province and stimulate their demand for manpower. Authorities have provided 141.45 million yuan ($20.92 million) worth of subsidies to companies that employ graduating students this year.
