Primary schools and kindergartens in Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province, held a variety of activities on June 1 to celebrate Children's Day.

More than 2,000 students and teachers at the Primary School Attached to Nanjing Normal University sang songs together, and a miniature space station made by several fifth-grade students at the school was displayed.

The East Beijing Road Primary School of Nanjing invited inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items to teach students from first to fourth grade to make sugar paintings, dough sculptures, facial masks for traditional Chinese operas and lanterns.

Students also learned about the origin and significance of these cultural heritage items, said Yao Shengfeng, a higher-up at the school.

The Experimental Primary School Attached to Nanjing University of Science and Technology awarded 30 students with excellent performance, while the Nanjing Hexi Foreign Language School held a ceremony for third-grade students to mark their growing up.

In addition, Nanjing Tiankang Street Kindergarten held a roller skating show for children.
