Authorities in East China's Jiangsu province will work with 110 technical schools and more than 1,000 major companies to create over 10,000 job positions this year, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

The move is aimed at helping students secure jobs and helping companies resume operations after the recent COVID-19 outbreaks.

In addition, the province will offer internships to 25,000 students in the second half of 2022, said Zhang Tong, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

Jiangsu has also been encouraging technical schools to offer majors that focus on training digital skills, as well as partner leading enterprises to build training bases. This year, technical schools in the province have offered 62 new digital technology-related majors, including artificial intelligence and industrial internet, and opened 2,095 training classes with 1,798 companies.

The province is also aiming to build several technical schools that can aid the development of the local digital economy by the end of 2025.
