Jiangsu Vocational College of Information Technology in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province has been making efforts to stimulate interest in learning vocational skills.

The college has partnered the Beijing Jingdiao Group to set up a precision computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools training base which has rolled out various activities that allow students to explore intelligent manufacturing.

During the activities, students can visit smart factories, go on virtual tours, learn how to carve an egg using a CNC machine, and assemble a Luban Lock. Lectures on the latest intelligent manufacturing technologies are also provided.

Such experiences are highly relatable to daily life and showcase the intriguing aspects of vocational education, said a director of the college's School of Intelligent Engineering.

The college has also promoted amateur radio direction finding (ARDF), an activity in which participants use maps, compasses and radio direction finding apparatus to search for radio transmitters. The college presently has seven ARDF clubs and 14 teams and has held many trainings and competitions over the past two years. More than 1,700 students at the college have participated in the activity.
