Nanjing Medical University offers students employment services
Nanjing Medical University in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province has been exploring different ways to boost employment among its graduating students.
For example, the university has cooperated with governments and companies in many cities, including Suzhou, Changzhou, Wuxi and Taizhou, to learn about their demands for human resources before recommending students for available positions.
It has also invited 23 HR directors at hospitals affiliated to the school to provide training courses for students, according to Xu Shan, a Party official at the university.
Digital technologies have also been used to help students find jobs. For example, the medical school has worked with 13 colleges in Nanjing to launch an online job search platform to facilitate communication between students and more than 800 employers. The school's employment service website and WeChat official accounts advertise an average of more than 1,000 job openings every year. These job vacancies have been viewed about 300,000 times to date.
As more and more employers are holding online interviews due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university has built several studios equipped with cameras, lights and backdrops to provide students with a professional environment to undergo their interviews.
The university also encourages graduates to work in less developed areas, such as villages and China's western regions, by giving those who do so 8,000 yuan ($1,184.79) in grants and access to preferential policies.
