Jiangsu pushes ahead with digitalization of education

East China's Jiangsu province has been reaping the dividends of its efforts to digitalize education.
To date, more than 85 percent of primary schools, middle schools and universities in the province have been recognized as intelligent schools. Among them is the Huangshan Road branch of Xincheng Junior High School of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University which has been using information technology to enhance the work of teachers and learning processes, said Yan Dong, vice-principal of the school.
Jiangsu has also been making efforts to develop online courses. According to Wei Xiyuan, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Educational Technology, which is part of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the province's smart education platform has offered more than 23,000 online classes and currently has over 8.69 million registered students.
In addition, a program that involves sharing the high-quality education resources of urban schools with rural or other disadvantaged schools through digital technologies has been carried out in 1,375 schools in Jiangsu, said Wei.
In the future, Jiangsu will improve its digital education infrastructure, digital education resources and services, extend application scenarios, and enhance cyber security, added Wei.
