Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province held a launch ceremony for an innovation and entrepreneurship contest for high-level overseas talents on July 30.

Aimed at attracting talents who have studied abroad, the contest will solicit projects that are related to Nantong's advanced manufacturing industries, including shipbuilding and ocean engineering, electronic information, and intelligent equipment, from areas such as Beijing, Shanghai, and southern Jiangsu.

A judging panel comprising industry experts, scholars, executives from listed companies and investment agencies will select 10 finalists to attend roadshows that are scheduled for October.

Professionals from various sectors including legislation and finance will also be invited to offer guidance to participants.

Wang Xiaohong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nantong Municipal Committee, said the city will provide support with regard to market and financing to people who start companies in Nantong as business environment and government services are crucial to helping returned overseas students innovate and build businesses.

A news conference for the 2022 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit in Chongchuan, a district in Nantong, was also held on the sidelines of the event. The summit is expected to take place in mid-October.
