A group of international students from the Overseas Education College of Jiangsu University, which is located in Zhenjiang, East China's Jiangsu province, visited the city's folk culture and art museum to learn about traditional local culture.

They watched an exhibition themed around the folk tale "The Legend of White Snake", which originated in Zhenjiang and is a love story between a snake demoness and a mortal man. A variety of items related to the legend, including books, audios, videos, stamps, trademarks and handicrafts, were featured in the exhibition.

Presentations on several intangible cultural heritage items in Zhenjiang, such as crisscross stitch embroidery, bamboo weaving, and the bamboo flute, were also given to the students.

Zhang Juan, a municipal-level inheritor of dough sculpting, was invited to teach the foreign students to make bear-shaped schoolbags with materials such as glutinous rice flour and honey.

Wu Wenhao, a Party member at the Overseas Education College, said the activity was aimed at promoting traditional Chinese culture among international students and teaching them about the country.
