Jiangsu schools organize activities during summer vacation

Primary schools, high schools and colleges in East China's Jiangsu province have organized a variety of activities during the summer vacation to aid students' holistic development.
For example, 40 teenagers in Nanjing took part in an activity themed around saving electricity and using electricity safely at the city's youngsters' palace on Aug 18. The students attended a lecture conducted by an expert from the Nanjing branch of State Grid and learned how to make a remote-controlled toy car powered by solar energy.
In Zhenjiang, 40 students from the Zhenjiang High School and Zhenjiang Foreign Language School recently visited a waste transfer station to learn about the treatment process, waste classification and other environmental protection measures.
A group of students from the Xinghe Experimental Primary School of Wujin district, Changzhou and Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology visited a local museum to learn Liuqing bamboo carving techniques. Xu Min, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage, showed them how to carve different patterns on the surface of bamboo.
