Yancheng adds 37 new schools for fall semester

Thirty-seven new schools were built and 19 schools were expanded in Yancheng, East China's Jiangsu province before the fall semester this year, increasing the city's admission quota by 63,240.

Among the new schools is the Yancheng Kechuang City Primary School, which has a floor area of 26,433 square meters. The school has a complete set of facilities, including multimedia classrooms, integrated classrooms, a stadium, a library, a theatre, and a canteen.

The new campus of Yancheng College of Mechatronic Technology, which includes four five-story classroom buildings and four three-story training buildings, is also ready for use.

The city's special education school is being expanded and construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2022. The number of classrooms will be increased from 27 to 45, while a new rehabilitation center, an office building, a playground, a dormitory and a canteen will be added.

Yancheng has been expanding the supply of high-quality education resources in recent years. Its fiscal expenditure on education in the past five years was 87.2 billion yuan ($12.71 billion), an annual growth rate of 7 percent. The city is ranked seventh in Jiangsu in terms of the quality and balanced development of compulsory education.
