The finals of the 10th "Win in Nanjing" College Students Entrepreneurship Contest was held on Nov 24.
Thirty projects won honors and will receive awards ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 yuan ($1,405-5,620) plus subsidies worth 300,000-500,000 yuan.
Among the projects was one related to a real-time 3D ultrasound imaging system proposed by Jiang Lingyin, a doctoral student at the School of Physics of Nanjing University. The system can be used in invasive heart surgeries and is nonradioactive and less costly compared to the x-ray, said Jiang.
Jiang and his team set up a medical technology company in Nanjing in May and are expected to start selling the ultrasound imaging system in 2026.
The entrepreneurship contest, organized by the Nanjing bureau of human resources and social security, was launched in March. Students from universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of London, and Duke University, had submitted a record high 3,680 projects – 10 times the number of the inaugural edition in 2013.
The projects are related to various sectors such as software and information services, intelligent manufacturing, biomedicine and digital economy.
