Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province, has been offering peace education to Chinese students who are going to study abroad for two years.

Such students at 18 senior high schools in the city are required to take a one to two-day peace education activity before their departure. During the activity, they visit exhibitions and go to lectures themed on the Nanjing Massacre, which took place in 1937 during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, attend memorials and present flowers for victims of the massacre, as well as make handicrafts including bookmarks and papercuts that are considered symbols of peace.

More than 3,000 students in Nanjing had participated in the peace education activities as of December 2022. Cheng Yufan, one of the students, said the activity has helped her learn more about history and the value of peace.
