Several members of the 13th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference submitted proposals related to the province's education during the ongoing first session of the committee.

Zhang Mingxia, one of the members and the principal of the Primary School Attached to Wuxi Normal School Jiangsu, said there should be more policy support for "double reduction", which refers to the alleviation of the twin burdens of excessive homework and private extracurricular tuition on primary and middle school students.

Implementation of the double reduction policies can better meet the diverse needs of students and encourage them to become active learners, said Zhang.

Another member, Cao Xinyue, who is also the principal of Changzhou Senior High School of Jiangsu Province, is focusing on cultivating innovative students. He suggests high school strengthen cooperation with universities and make the best use of their courses and teachers.

"Our school has maintained close partnerships with universities like Nanjing University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. They share their teachers and courses with us, and our students can visit their campuses and laboratories," said Cao.

Such practices can help students develop their own career plans and help the school ease its shortage of educational resources, added Cao.
