The Digix Global AI Challenge, a machine learning algorithm contest held by the Jiangsu Association of Artificial Intelligence (JSAI) and Huawei, was recently included in the 2023 official competition catalogue for Chinese college students released by the China Association of Higher Education.
Inaugurated in 2019, the competition has been held for four consecutive years and has attracted over 30,000 students from more than 900 universities in 45 countries and regions. The competition has promoted the application of artificial intelligence technology in social and economic fields, and helped students improve their research capabilities.
Fang Wei, the secretary-general of the JSAI, said that the competition has invited several high-profile scientific advisers, including Zhou Zhihua, dean of the Department of Computer Science and Technology and the School of Artificial Intelligence of Nanjing University, Pascal Van Hentenryck, a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Giuseppe De Giacomo, a professor at the Sapienza University of Rome and the chairman of the 2020 European Conference on Artificial Intelligence program committee.
The competition has also invited 15 AI experts from top Chinese universities to act as jurors and provide guidance to participants, said Fang.
Winners of the contest will receive cash prizes of up to $300,000 and opportunities to work in Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology and smart devices, according to Fang.
Preparations for the fifth Digix Global AI Challenge are currently in progress, Fang added.
