Jinling Institute of Technology
Overview: Jinling Institute of Technology (JIT), located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, offers full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses in advanced science and technological fields. The university structures itself upon the strategic research of the reform pilot of the Ministry of Education on application-oriented universities of science and technology. The university is the founding unit of the Association of Universities (Colleges) of Applied Science and chairs the Alliance of Applied Undergraduate Universities in the Yangtze River Delta Region. In 2021, JIT was approved as a master’s degree awarding institution. Its predecessor was Jinling Polytechnic University, which was founded in 1980 as the first vocational university in China, and Nanjing Agricultural College, which was founded in 1958 and rebuilt in 1984.In June 2002, approved by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial Government and Nanjing Municipal Government, Jinling Polytechnic University, and Nanjing Agricultural College were amalgamated into JIT. JIT was officially established in March 2005.
Attaching great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation, JIT actively cooperates with offshore universities in promoting the reform of education and teaching. Since 1995, JIT has been cooperating with universities in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Austria, Holland, USA, UK, Russia, Taiwan (China) and Macao (China). Currently, JIT has four Chinese-Foreign Cooperatively-run programs approved by the Ministry of Education, including JIT-SUNY (USA) Horticulture (Biotechnology), JIT-QUT (Australia) Software Engineering, JIT-DMU(UK) Telecommunication Engineering, and JIT-GCU (UK) Civil Engineering.
