Overview: Nanjing University of the Arts is a century-old school with a long history and rich heritage. It is the earliest independent institution of higher art education that was founded in China and continues to this day. It is also a university jointly built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Jiangsu Provincial Government, and is one of the universities in Jiangsu High Level University Summit Plan. The history of the university can be traced back to 1912 when Mr. Liu Haisu, the pioneer of China's new art movement and the founder of modern art education, founded the Shanghai Institute of Graphic Arts (renamed Shanghai Fine Arts School in 1930). December 8, 2022 marked the 110th anniversary of the founding of the Nanjing University of the Arts.
