Overview: Nantong University (NTU) was founded in 1912 by Mr. Zhang Jian. It is a comprehensive university jointly built by Jiangsu Provincial Government and the National Department of Transportation. It is under construction of Jiangsu High Level University Construction Peak Plan. In Chinese University Evaluation 2022 of the China Academy of Management Science, NTU ranked 106th. In ESI Comprehensive Ranking of Chinese Universities, it ranked 113th. In 2020 Best Chinese Universities Rankings, it ranked 33rd of Outstanding Medical Alumni of Chinese Universities.

NTU is composed of 20 schools, one independent college (Xinglin College), one large comprehensive and affiliated hospital, School of International Education and School of Extended Education. There are 3 postdoctoral research centers and 5 doctoral degree programs in Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Information and Communication Engineering, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and Medical Aspects of Specific Environments. There are 23 academic master degree programs and 19 professional master degree programs. The 8 disciplines of Clinical Medicine, Neuroscience and Behavior, Engineering, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Chemistry，Material Science, and Molecular Biology and Genetics have ranked the top 1% of ESI disciplines in the world. NTU boasts 2 preponderant disciplines, 8 key disciplines of Jiangsu province, and 30 key clinical medicine related specialties of Jiangsu province.

NTU has developed extensive overseas exchange and cooperation, established friendly cooperative relations with more than 136 universities and research institutes in various countries and regions. There are 1,009 international degree students.
