Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute
Overview: Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute (SADTI) is located in Suzhou, a famous historical and cultural city founded in 514BC, situated in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, bordering Shanghai on the east, Zhejiang Province on the south. It is the first independent higher vocational college of art & design in China. Its predecessor was Suzhou Arts & Crafts Technical College, founded in August 1958. In 2007, the Institute was included in the "National Model Vocational Colleges Program". In 2014, in the evaluation of the national backbone vocational colleges program, the Institute was graded "Excellent" by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. In 2017, it was selected as one of the construction units of high-level vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province. In 2019, it entered the Construction Project of High-Level Vocational Schools and Specialties with Chinese Characteristics.
Located in the south part of Suzhou International Education Park, the campus covers an area of 565 mu (around 38000 sq.m.). At present, the number of registered students on campus hits over 5000 with international students included. SADTI currently has 7 schools with 27 majors in 54 different directions of emphasis, including School of Arts & Crafts, School of Fine Arts, School of Environmental Art, School of Visual Communication, School of Fashion Design, School of Digital Arts and School of Industrial Design. With multi-disciplines integrated, both traditional arts and crafts and modern art design are well represented and emphasized. SADTI owns a well-structured teaching team with 427 in number, among which, there are 16 professors and advanced researchers, 168 associate professors and over 100 art & design masters.
SADTI runs three important Sino-foreign cooperative education platforms, namely, Sino-French Art & Design Education Research Center of Jiangsu Province, Sino-British Suzhou Art & Design Education Innovation Center, China Research & Creation Workshop of World Handcraft Association. In the meanwhile, the institute has signed the cooperation and exchange agreements with over 30 units from 12 countries including France, Britain, Japan, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, America, New Zealand and Spain.
