A delegation of 22 teachers and students from the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School in Budapest, capital of Hungary, embarked on a visit to several cities in East China's Jiangsu province, including Nanjing, Suzhou, and Nantong, on July 9.
During the nearly 10-day trip, they visited museums, schools, traditional Chinese gardens, and historical sites such as the Nantong Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture, Nanjing University, the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou, and the Temple of Confucius in Nanjing.
According to a dean from the Hungarian school, the schools they visited in Jiangsu possess high-quality educational resources and an excellent campus environment. Hungarian students also had plenty of interaction with local students and they together participated in activities such as painting.
A student from the bilingual school who has been studying Chinese for about 10 years said that Jiangsu's culture, such as Kunqu Opera, is popular in many countries and the province gave rise to many renowned literary works. He expressed his hope to study computer science at a university in Jiangsu.
Another student, Kenyeres Sandor, agreed that Jiangsu has many excellent schools with high teaching quality and a long history. He hopes to enroll in the chemistry school at Nanjing University.
Jiang Yong, director-general of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, said he hopes the Hungarian students will share their stories in Jiangsu with family and friends so that the world can better understand China. He also encouraged them to connect more with their young partners in Jiangsu to foster deep friendships.
Jiangsu and Hungary maintain close relations in education. The Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School has established friendships with many schools in Jiangsu. In 2022, 16 Hungarian students came to Jiangsu for short or long-term study.
