A group of international students at Jiangsu University in Zhenjiang, East China's Jiangsu province, on Aug 6 experienced the traditional Chinese custom "kenqiu" ("啃秋" in Chinese, literally translated as "bite the autumn") at Yangjiamen community in Jinshan sub-district to welcome the Start of Autumn, the 13th solar term of the year, which falls on Aug 8.
"Kenqiu" consists of eating watermelon and represents a farewell to the hot summer and a greeting to the cool autumn.
