Gao Jinfeng, the principal of Jiangyan District Experimental Primary School and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), is advocating for a culture of questioning in schools.

At her school in Taizhou, Jiangsu, every floor has a "Question Wall" where students can post queries about scientific topics and answer their peers' questions.

Gao believes schools should encourage students to ask questions from a young age and cultivate a curiosity-driven mindset. How teachers respond to students' curious inquiries also tests the effectiveness of the school's evaluation system.

To gain a broader understanding of the situation, Gao has engaged in face-to-face exchanges with science teachers from regions like Tibet, Xinjiang, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang over the past year. She also collected valuable questions through 2,000 online surveys.

During this year's annual session of the CPPCC, Gao's proposals focused on continually enhancing scientific education in schools. She proposed suggestions regarding science education resources, teacher trainings, and evaluation systems.

Gao emphasized the need to establish effective incentive mechanisms to encourage more teachers to engage in science education. She also suggested the establishment of an evaluation system to create a supportive environment that encourages children to innovate and explore the unknown.
