Students from the College of Art and Design and School of International Education at Jiangsu University of Technology in Changzhou, Jiangsu province came together on May 31 for an immersive experience in traditional Chinese art and culture.
Zhang Yifang, an associate professor from the College of Art and Design, introduced participating students to the craftsmanship, artistry, and cultural significance of Quanzhou's floral headdress, an intangible cultural heritage item known as "zanhua (簪花)" in Chinese. Foreign students actively participated in the process, adorning graduation caps with floral accessories.
The event also featured a hands-on workshop for crafting lacquer fans, providing participants with the opportunity to engage directly with another aspect of China's rich cultural heritage.
A student from Morocco with the Chinese name Wu Min expressed his appreciation for the event, stating that it taught him about Chinese culture and allowed him to experience the beauty of China's traditional intangible heritage firsthand.
