Jiangsu-US university collaboration conference held in Suzhou
The Changshu Institute of Technology in Changshu, Suzhou hosted a university collaboration conference between Jiangsu and the United States on July 9.
The event saw the participation of leaders and scholars from seven US institutions, including Norfolk State University, Valley State University, Texas Southern University, Georgia College & State University, and Jacksonville State University.
James Callaghan, assistant vice-president for international education at Georgia College & State University, said that US universities are committed to strengthening ties between Chinese and US institutions, aiming to provide more opportunities for US students to study and engage in cultural exchanges in Jiangsu, and foster greater friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
During the conference, the US university delegation and Jiangsu universities co-hosted a Chinese culture-themed workshop, featuring a series of traditional cultural activities. These included Chinese tea ceremonies, tie-dye experiences, and dragon boat races.
The US participants gained a deeper appreciation for traditional Chinese calligraphy, music, painting, and sports. They expressed their intention to send a delegation of US students to Jiangsu next year to participate in cultural exchange events.
Earlier in June, Jiangsu organized a summer camp for US youth which facilitated exchanges and dialogues between Chinese and US teachers and students.
