Fostering youth exchange: A cultural bridge between China and Central Asia
On Dec 27, a youth cultural exchange event took place at the Jiangsu Central Asia Center in Nanjing, bringing together over 40 students from five Central Asian nations and exceptional young representatives from local enterprises in Nanjing.
During the event, the Jiangsu Central Asia Center, in collaboration with educational institutions like the Law School of Southeast University, established the University Student Internship Practice Base, aiming to provide a practical off-campus learning environment for students from Central Asian countries.
Each participant also had the opportunity to share the cultural treasures of their respective homelands, ranging from indigenous customs and traditional practices to distinctive cultural facets. Their introductions included the vibrant Nauryz festival — the most important holiday in the Kazakh calendar, the unique kumis (fermented mare's milk), and the impressive Tajik eagle dance, offering a glimpse of the diverse cultural tapestry between China and Central Asia.

Senior instructors from an intangible cultural heritage creative base in Jiangsu provided enlightening insights into the diversity and unique value of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Through collaborative efforts, Central Asian students and young Chinese representatives engaged in hands-on activities such as crafting Nanjing clay figurines and traditional spinning lanterns, immersing themselves in the allure of these cultural treasures.
This event not only served as a platform for youth to showcase their talents and share knowledge, but also fostered cultural dialogue among students from different nations.
