Over 40 international students from countries along the Belt and Road recently immersed themselves in China's rich cultural heritage in Jianhu county, Yancheng, Jiangsu. Through acrobatics, opera, and folk arts, they experienced the unique charm of a traditional Chinese New Year.

Jianhu, known as China's "Hometown of Acrobatics", is famous for its Southern-style performances featuring breathtaking stunts and intricate choreography. At the town's Granary Art Center, students watched their first live Chinese acrobatics show, marveling at the performers' incredible skills in handstands, ball juggling, plate spinning, and hat stacking.

Beyond acrobatics, the students explored the elegance of Huaiju Opera, a local Jiangsu theatrical tradition. At the Costume and Accessories Hall, they learned about the history and significance of Huaiju Opera's elaborate headdresses, costumes, and props.

They also got hands-on with traditional paper-cutting, guided by a skilled artist who transformed a simple red sheet into a lifelike rabbit with a small carving knife.

From the thrilling acrobatics to the refined beauty of Huaiju Opera and the delicate artistry of paper-cutting, the students were captivated by the depth and diversity of Chinese culture, making their visit to Jianhu an unforgettable experience.
