Italian students embark on cultural exchange journey in Hai'an
On March 6, a group of 46 students, teachers, and parents from Italy arrived in Hai'an, Jiangsu, for enriching educational and cultural exchange with students from Chengnan Experimental Primary School.
During their visit, the Italian guests toured different campuses of Chengnan Experimental Primary School, engaged in various extracurricular activities, and participated in cultural lessons. On the playground of the main campus, an intense soccer match unfolded between Chinese and Italian students. "The playground is huge, and I'm so happy to play soccer with my new Chinese friends," said an Italian boy visiting China for the first time.
At the school's south campus, Italian students participated in clay modeling and ink painting workshops and sang the famous Chinese folk song Jasmine Flower. At the west campus, they collaborated in a hands-on learning project where designed and decorated traditional Chinese kites before launching them into the sky.
On March 7, the group visited the east campus for an immersive experience with intangible cultural heritage like sugar painting, block printing, and lacquer fan decoration.
The visit left a profound impression on both the Italian students and their parents. Giorgio Govi, one of the parents, expressed his heartfelt gratitude: "The warmth and sincerity of the teachers and students were truly touching. The children's performances were amazing, and our children were lucky to make new Chinese friends. It has been an unforgettable cultural exchange."
The Italian teachers were equally impressed by the city's educational excellence. Alice, an Italian teacher marveled at Hai'an schools' modern facilities. "The facilities are advanced, and the variety of educational activities is incredible."
In 2023, Chengnan Experimental Primary School established a sister-school partnership with China-Italy International School in Padova, Italy, fostering long-term cultural and educational collaboration.
