Training program boosts Cambodia-China cooperation in skills development

A skills development training program under the Belt and Road Initiative's South-South Cooperation framework was launched on March 31. Around 30 participants from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia, the Preah Sihanouk Cambodia-China Friendship Polytechnic Institute, Wuxi Institute of Technician, and other organizations attended the opening ceremony.
Sin Sothona, deputy director of the Standards and Curriculum Department at Cambodia's Ministry of Labor of Vocational Training, expressed sincere appreciation for China's support. He noted that Cambodia is at a critical stage of rapid economic growth and has a strong demand for talent in smart manufacturing and digital technology.

The two-week program focuses on electrical installation and business IT solutions, aiming to equip Cambodian trainees with cutting-edge technologies and practical methods. Those who pass the final assessment will be awarded Chinese vocational skills certificates.
Wuxi Institute of Technician plans to include Chinese enterprises based in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in the skills development network. The next steps will involve jointly developing training materials and resources, promoting Chinese vocational skills standards and certification, advancing mutual recognition of standards, and fostering greater international integration of skills systems.
