Soochow University officially launched its International College of Pharmaceutical Innovation on April 2, co-founded with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. This marks the establishment of the first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution in China, approved by the Ministry of Education to focus solely on pharmacy.

During the launch ceremony, David Murphy, consul general of Ireland in Shanghai, emphasized the shared strengths of Ireland and Suzhou in life sciences. He highlighted the presence of many leading enterprises and innovative achievements. He expressed optimism that by leveraging both regions' strategic locations and the academic foundations of both institutions, the partnership would promote deeper collaboration and nurture high-level pharmaceutical talent.

The college has received strong support from local pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and high schools in Suzhou in areas such as talent cultivation, academic research, and technology commercialization. During the event, the Soochow University Alliance for Global Pharmaceutical Innovation Talent Development was launched, and plaques were presented in recognition of the alliance's member units.
