Recently, over 20 international students from Jean Monnet University in France visited Suzhou to engage in an immersion of traditional Chinese culture.

At the Kuang Zhong Memorial Temple, which was constructed to commemorate the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) official Kuang Zhong, students were exposed to classical Chinese architecture and the profound heritage of ethical governance. The visit additionally offered an immersive understanding of the principles of integrity and public service in ancient China.

The group then toured the Suzhou Police Museum, where historical exhibits and archives charted the evolution of contemporary law enforcement in Suzhou, providing a distinctive perspective on the city's administrative development over the years.

At the final stop, the historic Jiangsu Provincial Surveillance Commissioner's Office, constructed during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), provided students with an opportunity to experience the distinguished ambiance of a traditional Chinese government complex. Interactive exhibits highlighted the site's historical importance, once serving as the residence of officials like Lin Zexu.

During the onsite intangible cultural heritage workshop, the students participated in a practical Suzhou clay sculpture session. Under the guidance of arts and crafts master Guan Hui, they acquired skills in pigment mixing, painting, and glazing. "I really enjoyed painting my designs on the clay," said French student Fisch Heloise. "It gave me a wonderful sense of creative freedom."

The newly opened seal carving art exhibition at the venue also captivated the students, enhancing their appreciation for Chinese aesthetics and cultural traditions.
