Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology has collaborated with Yu Meiren, a top brand of the national intangible cultural heritage Changzhou combs, to create a new talent development model.

Embedding students in real business scenarios and harnessing e-commerce revitalizes traditional craftsmanship while equipping young professionals for the digital economy.

Through a co-established studio, students undertake projects covering competitor analysis, cost accounting, and live-stream script creation. They rotate across different company departments, engaging with real-world issues like Amazon store management, cross-border customer support, and after-sales service. School mentors offer theoretical knowledge, while industry mentors bring in live business projects, forming a comprehensive guidance system.

Practical experience has improved students' professional skills and overall competence, with more than 10 students receiving awards in e-commerce operations and livestreaming competitions.

One notable case is Cambodian student Zhang Caixuan. She studied traditional pattern design and took a key role in managing a cross-border store. Alongside her peers, she successfully marketed zodiac-themed and seasonal combs — highlighting traditional Chinese symbols — using platforms like Amazon and TikTok to reach Southeast Asian customers.

"It feels rewarding to let people back home learn about Chinese comb culture through e-commerce," Zhang said.
