The 2025 China-Italy Education Cooperation Dialogue was recently held at Nantong University, marking a new milestone in educational and cultural exchange between the two countries.
During the event, three major cooperation platforms were inaugurated: the Siena College of Future Biotechnology, Nantong University, a joint Sino-Italian educational institute co-founded by Nantong University and the University of Siena; the China-Italy Center for the Synergistic Development of Education and Culture; and the Innovation Base for Collaborative Italian Language Talent Training.
Wang Jianpu, president of Nantong University, expressed the university's strong dedication to strengthening cooperation with the city of Siena and local Italian universities. He said that both sides will work together to nurture globally minded, high-quality talent and promote long-term friendship and sustainable development in China-Italy relations.
Tiziana D'Angelo, consul general of Italy in Shanghai, praised the increasing potential and accomplishments in China-Italy educational collaboration. She highlighted that the two countries have long maintained strong cultural and educational exchanges, which have not only expanded students' academic horizons but also encouraged innovation in economic and cultural ties.

Vanna Giunti, vice-mayor of Siena; Roberto di Pietra, president of the University of Siena; Anna Carli, chair of the R. Franci Conservatory; and Carla Bagna, vice-president of the University for Foreigners of Siena, shared their thoughts on the successful partnership between the two cities and universities. They also expressed optimism about the prospects for future bilateral cooperation.
During their visit, guests toured the newly inaugurated Siena College of Future Biotechnology, engaged with faculty and students, and enjoyed a special concert by Nantong University's international symphony orchestra.
