China's Ministry of Education released a public notice on Jan 4 approving the upgrading of seven higher vocational institutions to undergraduate-level universities. In Jiangsu province, the Huaiyin Institute of Technology has officially been renamed Huai'an University.

Located in Huai'an, Jiangsu, the university traces its roots back to 1958. Over the past six decades, it has grown into an application-oriented institution with a strong focus on engineering, while steadily expanding into a multidisciplinary university serving regional economic and social development as well as industry needs. It offers programs in engineering, management, economics, agriculture, literature, law, arts, science and education.

Huai'an University has built a solid research foundation, with five disciplines ranking in the top 1 percent globally in the ESI database: engineering, environment and ecology, chemistry, biology and biochemistry, and materials science.

Talent cultivation has always been at the heart of the university's mission. It is committed to nurturing graduates with strong professional skills, innovative thinking, and a sense of social responsibility. Over its long history, the institution has trained more than 140,000 graduates, who have been widely recognized by employers and made meaningful contributions to local economic growth and social progress.
