Jiang Yong, director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, met with Jeffrey Greene, chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, along with a delegation of US teachers and students taking part in the "Discover Jiangsu: US Youth Exchange Program".
The two sides held in-depth discussions on carrying forward the Flying Tigers spirit, strengthening people-to-people ties between China and the United States, and expanding youth exchange programs.
Jiang noted that Jiangsu has a long tradition of friendly exchanges with the United States and has achieved a series of positive outcomes in recent years in international education cooperation. He said the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education is willing to work closely with the foundation to promote the legacy of the Flying Tigers, and welcomed more US teachers and students from the Flying Tigers Friendship School and Young Leaders Program to join initiatives such as the youth exchange program. These efforts, he added, would help deepen mutual understanding, enhance cooperation, and strengthen ties between young people in both countries.
Greene said the foundation will continue to serve as a bridge connecting the two nations by actively organizing visits to China. Through immersive exchange programs, the foundation aims to deepen cooperation with Jiangsu in education and help US young people develop a more comprehensive and objective understanding of China.
Greene led a delegation of 56 US teachers and students on a visit to Jiangsu from Dec 21 to 25. During the trip, the group visited primary and secondary schools in Nanjing and Suzhou, as well as the Johns Hopkins University – Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. They also toured Suzhou's classical gardens, Nanjing's Laomendong historic district, and local enterprises, gaining first-hand experience of Jiangsu's cultural heritage, technological innovation, and education development.
