Jiangsu is located along the eastern coast of China with a highly developed economy and many ancient historic sites; it has become a fascinating province for international as well as Chinese tourists.

Jiangsu is situated between east longitude 116°21' and 121°56', north latitude 30°45' and 35°08'. Jiangsu faces the Yellow Sea in the east, bordering Shandong province in the north, Anhui province in the west, and Shanghai and Zhejiang province in the southeast. Owing to its advantageous geographic location and easy access to a vast hinterland, Jiangsu province is becoming one of the most developed provinces in China.
Located in the beautiful and prosperous Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, Jiangsu thus enjoys the authenticity of its natural scenery while maintaining a solid economic foundation, making it an idealistic destination for business, tourism or study. The YRD city group constituted by Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang has become one of the six world-class city groups.
From the beginning of China's economic reform to the subsequent entry into the world economy, Jiangsu province has worked extensively to foster its economic roots within China and the global economy. Jiangsu's economic and social development has made remarkable achievements. In 2025, Jiangsu registered regional GDP of 14.24 trillion yuan ($2.04 trillion), a year-on-year growth of 5.3 percent.

To advance inclusive preschool education, Jiangsu is actively implementing the national policy of gradually introducing free preschool education. The provincial government allocated 1.06 billion yuan in subsidies in 2025, benefiting more than 650,000 children.
Another major highlight of education spending in 2025 is the continued expansion and upgrading of the student aid system. The province earmarked 3.12 billion yuan to support higher subsidy standards and expand coverage. Notably, Jiangsu has taken the lead nationwide by introducing a targeted aid policy for orphaned and severely disadvantaged students. An additional 61.24 million yuan has been invested this year to waive education-related fees for over 15,000 such students, reinforcing the province's commitment to educational equity.
Efforts to improve learning conditions have also contributed to reducing the education gap between urban and rural areas. To address insufficient air conditioning in specific primary and secondary classrooms, the provincial finance department allocated 270 million yuan for upgrades. As a result, more than 32,000 classrooms now have air conditioning, ensuring complete coverage throughout the province.
In higher education, Jiangsu has strengthened support for provincial universities by allocating an additional 2.6 billion yuan. The move raises the per-student funding benchmark by 1,000 yuan, improving teaching quality and ensuring better basic public services.
