The 2026 Jiangsu-Jeju Youth Peace Forum was held on April 1 in Jeju City, bringing together students and educators from China's Jiangsu province and South Korea's Jeju to share a common message of remembering history, cherishing peace, and working together for the future.
Through dialogue and interactive activities, participants deepened their understanding of history and peace while strengthening cross-cultural friendships.
As part of broader educational exchanges, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education invited officials, teachers, and students from Jiangsu to visit Jeju from March 31 to April 4. During the visit, Chinese and South Korean students engaged in joint classes, themed presentations, and forum discussions, fostering mutual learning and reflection.
A student from a local middle school in Jeju said that despite differences in culture and language, human connections go beyond words. Looking back at history helps prevent tragedies from happening again, the student noted.
Luo Lan, a student from Nanjing, said she was deeply moved by the way South Korean students shared historical experiences. She said their simple yet sincere words carried strong emotions and meaning.
Chen Jianjun, consul general of China in Jeju, said that young people growing up in times of peace may have a limited understanding of war. He stressed the importance of learning history to strengthen awareness, cherish peace, and pass on these lessons to future generations, contributing to regional and global stability.
