The Chinese organizing committee for the 48th WorldSkills Competition recently announced the list of competitors and reserve candidates for Team China, with Jiangsu province earning 19 places in total.

Nationwide, 71 competitors and 71 reserve candidates were selected to compete in 64 skill events, including aircraft maintenance, plumbing and heating, mechatronics, autonomous mobile robotics, renewable energy, robot systems integration, health and social care, and dental prosthetics technology.

Among them, 11 participants from Jiangsu were selected as competitors, while another eight were named reserve candidates.

The WorldSkills Competition is recognized as the world's most prestigious, largest and influential vocational skills event. The 48th edition of the competition will be held in Shanghai in September 2026. The event is expected to attract more than 5,500 registered participants from 73 countries and regions.

This year's WorldSkills Competition features six major categories and 64 skill events covering areas such as drone systems, cybersecurity, cloud computing, Industry 4.0 technologies and 3D digital game art.

Seven newly added competition events – rail vehicle technology, drone systems, smart security technology, software testing, digital interactive media design, dental prosthetics technology and retail – closely align with global industrial upgrading and emerging technological trends.

The addition of these new events is expected to create broader pathways for young skilled talent, offering new opportunities for career development and employment in rapidly evolving industries.
