International students dive into Zhenjiang's living heritage

International students from Jiangsu University immersed themselves in Zhenjiang's cultural landscape on May 24.

The one-day journey began at the China Vinegar Culture Museum, where students observed the traditional craft of brewing Zhenjiang's renowned black vinegar. They then visited a seal engraving society, where they tried their hand at ancient rubbing techniques.

Local cuisine also became a key part of the cultural exploration. Through tasting sessions featuring signature dishes such as Zhenjiang pot lid noodles, ham jelly, and crab roe soup dumplings, students gained insight into the distinctive flavors and culinary heritage of Jiangnan cuisine.

In the afternoon, the group visited Jiaoshan Hill, where they explored centuries-old stone inscriptions, tracing the literary and calligraphic legacy preserved through generations. At the Xijin Ferry Folk Art Museum, they experienced Song Dynasty-style tea preparation before visiting the former residence of Pearl S. Buck, a historical site reflecting Zhenjiang's early international connections.

The students will share their experiences on social media platforms, helping bring Zhenjiang's cultural heritage and urban vitality to a global audience.
